Here comes 2012
I finally found some time on a Friday night to revive my dead blog. It’s not as if I stopped taking pictures, but with the road to graduation and job hunting just a few months away I’ve felt unable to spend anytime to post anything of decent quality. So I’ll just leave it at a few pictures for now. These were taken today with my new EF 16-35mm f/2.8 II L (except sunrise, which was on the EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L) and EOS 5D Mark II as I walked around UW campus. Finally making full frame digital landscapes a reality. Still feels odd but I’m definitely enjoying it! I hope you all do too!
Sunrise over Lake Washington. The fog gives a very eerie look to the houses and trees.
The buildings on the East side of the Quad had shaded the grass from the sun, leaving some beautiful frost out in mid-morning. I found a clover here!
The frost on the edge of the leaves had me really wishing I’d packed in my EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro IS L! So it goes, can’t have it all π
Red Square at sunset. I have taken several of this location with the Obelisk framed by the colors of the setting sun, but never this wide! 16mm is really something I’ll have to get used to…
Very cool shots, I could barely tell what was hidden in the fog! Love the frost too, can’t wait to bust out the new lens (you know which one) on some early morning frost with nice lighting. Man, 16mm on FF is sooo wide! You can argue about how much you love film all you want, but one thing’s for sure – digital is convenient, and convenient = efficient = more shooting, which sometimes is all that matters in the end =D I like your idea of doing a shoot-out this summer, but for the time being maybe you could start your own 52-week project? It’s nice having a reason to motivate yourself to take at least one thoughtful shot a week.
I should really start updating my blog again… FB has been such a good medium for photos though, and quality wise the gap is starting to close, which isn’t great incentive for me to spend all that time blogging. Guess I’ll see if I have any free time over spring break to at least flesh out some of the picture-only posts I’ve got online right now! Keep it up man.
Canon vs. Zeiss – But well all know Zeiss wins for landscapes right haha. π
I think 52 – week projects are over done haha. It’s not the taking as much as the posting that I never get around to you know?
